Diploma in Web Design

A Diploma in Web Design will give you most of the knowledge you’ll need to be successful. Of course, the rest will come when you get into the work. There are so many out there that it’s hard to recommend one particular course but if you’re willing to commit more time and money, your best option is a Web Developer degree.

Degree in web development

A degree in web development at an institution like the Staffordshire University or a web design and development undergraduate course at Birkbeck University of London will teach you what you need to know. These courses are for at least two years and they’ll give you a great foundation for the work.

What’s involved with web development?

A web designer’s main tasks include creating web site designs and producing sample sites. Then there are meetings with clients to discuss their requirements, demonstrations of the work so far and feedback from draft sites. As you’d expect, you’ll need to understand coding including html and Javascript. This is a job that demands a keen mind and someone who’s really interested in all the advances happening in the industry. It’s also a job that asks for someone who can work equally well on their own and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Typical employers

You should concentrate your web designer job search at software firms, IT consultancies and specialised web design firms for the job you seek, although large corporate organisations also offer this type of work.
