Looking to work for the UK Border Agency?

As many of you may know, there is currently a freeze on external recruitment in operation for the UK Border Agency. This means that they are not seeking any new staff in the majority of positions. While there may be some minor hiring in terms of administrative or emergency, business critical roles, for the most part you're going to need to wait until the hiring embargo is lifted - which is currently expected to be in early 2012.

In preparation for the removal of this embargo, we have decided to take a look at some of the roles that are available within the UK Border Agency. So take a look around and see if any appeal to you.

One of the most common positions available for the UK Border Agency are jobs as administrative assistants. These clerical positions are the ones that really keep the organisation ticking over. They are well suited to anyone who is comfortable using a computer for long periods of time, and who is familiar with software like Microsoft Excel.

Administrative officers are similar to the above, however they have a much more public facing job. They will deal with customers, answer phones and are afforded the ability to make certain decisions.

Executive officer positions are for professionals who have plenty of experience working in the clerical field. They can work in a number of departments, such as finance or IT, and will need to have prior experience in that field. They have much more responsibility than the administrative officers and administrative assistants.
