Interview tips for restaurant jobs

Are you currently applying for restaurant jobs? It's never too early to start thinking about top interview preparation. Here are some tips and advice to help...

The style of the interview

If you're applying for a job in a large chain or big company, it's likely that the interview process will be quite formalised. Expect to be interviewed by a panel of two or three. It's a good idea to dress in business attire.

If you're applying for a job in an independent restaurant or locally run restaurant, the interview is likely to be more casual in nature. It will usually take the form of having a chat with the manager about your experience and availability. Although this is a casual interview, it's a good idea to dress smartly - a short sleeved shirt and smart trousers or skirt is recommended.

A lot will depend on the style of the interview, but typical questions include:

  • Why do you want to work in a restaurant?
