Check out the pool lifeguard recruitment in your area

Are you looking for employment? Are you someone who loves the water? Are you very attentive? If so, then maybe pool lifeguarding is the job for you. We will be taking a look at pool lifeguard recruitment and what you will in need in order to qualify.

First and foremost, you will need to be an excellent swimmer and physically fit. In the UK there is also an age minimum (16 or over for a pool lifeguard and 18 or over for beach lifeguard). You may wonder why you need to have the mix of swimming ability and physical fitness for this position. Well, you may be put in a situation where you will need to dive in to the pool, swim to whomever is in crisis, grab them, and swim back to the pool side without any assistance from anyone else. This can be very exhausting, and if you do not have the physical stamina or the swimming ability to do so, then you will not succeed at this job.

An employer looking for new pool lifeguards will also be looking to see that you have either the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or NaRS Pool Rescue Qualifications. The NPLQ is awarded by the Royal Live Saving Society UK and it is only awarded if you demonstrate a good standard of swimming and some experience lifesaving (usually through other RSLL lifesaving awards).

The NaRS Pool Rescue Qualifications, on the other hand, are awarded by the Swimming Teachers' Association. If you want to be a pool lifeguard, you will need to have completed the Level 2 Certificate for National Rescue Standard -Pool Lifeguard.
