Searching for part time jobs in Ireland?

Despite the fact that we've been hearing nothing but doom and gloom from all sections of the media for the past few years, the Irish people are coping particularly well with the problems that have surfaced in the face of the latest recession. Fortunately for everyone involved, it seems that things aren't quite as bad as the media would have us believe, and there are actually an ever increasing number of part time jobs in Ireland for those who are willing to put in a shift doing a job that doesn't necessarily fit their previous work experience (or salary).

The most important thing to remember during any job search is that remain positive. If you can not only do that, but also tap into your reserves of local knowledge then you should have no problem finding yourself a part time job. We know that it's easier said than done, but by focussing your attentions on the right industries you should be able to get back working sooner rather than later.

It's important to remember that the majority of vacancies in Ireland are currently coming from the retail sector. This means that by focussing on the larger supermarket chains such as Tesco, Supervalu, Superquinn, LIDL and ALDI you have an excellent chance of finding a part time position that suits you.

Since these roles tend to be entry level, you can expect to earn around €7.95 to €8.15 per hour for your services. The majority of the positions are working as a cashier, so you'll also need to be friendly and willing to strike up a conversation with your customers wherever possible to ensure that their trip was a memorable one.
