If you're a student in years ten through to thirteen and have your heart set on working within the medical industry then there are plenty of options available out there for medical work experience to give you a real taste of how day to day life is in your chosen role. You'll get to see first hand just how the medical professions in your area work, as well as learn about many of the responsibilities held by the various members of staff.

In order to qualify for these work experience schemes you must be at least 16 years of age and be interested in working in the medical profession. There are also options available for adults who wish to see unpaid placement for a predetermined length of time if they are currently within higher education, or wish to work in the medical profession in future.

We are going to take a look at what's available in terms of medical work experience in London at Barts and the London today in order to give you a more detailed idea of how things work for these placements. Firstly, due to the large amount of requests that Barts and The London get every year it is impossible for them to accommodate everything. It is advised that you think very carefully about your area of interest and build a detailed personal statement for your application to reflect the reasons why you have chosen it. If you don't hear anything back within two to three weeks you are to assume that there were no free vacancies for work experience to suit you.
