Finding maintenance jobs in Wales needn't be a chore

Due to the almost complete collapse of the construction industry in the United Kingdom following the recession of 2008, there are a huge number of talented tradesmen and women who are currently without a job. Until things start to pick up again and new housing developments start springing up once more, things are looking bleak for those who are either unwilling or unable to adapt to the new financial climate.

Fortunately for those who are willing to make a change, there are opportunities available out there in terms of maintenance jobs in Wales. These maintenance jobs are usually with companies employed by businesses such as apartment management companies, hotels, hostels, restaurants or office blocks to ensure that their properties are looked after and carefully maintained so as not to represent any risk to business.

Your job as a maintenance operative would be to identify problems, or potential problems, fix anything that you have the ability to fix, make a careful note of each job, manage supplies, respond to customer enquiries and complaints, ensure that everything is clean and tidy, install new furniture or remove old furniture, look after basic electrical and plumbing issues, issue invoices and ensure that everything in the building works as it should.

You will usually answer to a maintenance foreman, whose job it is to carefully manage the resources at hand to ensure that everything is done in a timely manner without stretching things to the point where the quality of work is substandard.

As a maintenance operative you can expect to earn around £7.10 per hour, while maintenance foremen can earn up to £11.15 per hour depending on their previous experience and the finances of the company they work for.
