Job interview questions and answers

One of the most important aspects of preparing for a job interview is to consider possible job interview questions and answers. To help you with this, we've compiled a list of some commonly asked questions.

Tell us about yourself.

This question may sound easy but it's actually one of the most difficult questions that you can get on a job interview. It's a good idea to practice this question a few times as it's likely you'll get asked it in some form. A good answer will sum up your qualifications and the most impressive and relevant aspects of your career. It should also give the interviewer an idea about the direction you would like to take your career in.

Why have you applied for this job?

This question also requires you to give an overview of your key skills and experience, but this time you should relate them directly to the job in hand and describe why you're a perfect fit for the role on offer. You should also use this opportunity to display your enthusiasm for the role and the industry. Conduct research on the company and be able to state specifically why you would like to work with them (as opposed to a competitor).

Where do you see youself in five years' time?

Given the current economic climate, this can be a tricky one to answer. If you don't know exactly where your career is heading it's ok to say so, but you should make it clear that you want to progress within this industry.
