Home based call agent jobs are the perfect solution for anyone who can't commit to a full time, office based job. These call agent jobs aren't usually flexible - you'll be assigned a set rota and will be required to put in a minimum number of hours per week - but they do offer a great solution for anyone who needs to work remotely.

Do you think you've got what it takes to be a home based call agent?

  • You'll need a minimum of two years working in a call centre environment. This should preferably be in a related industry.
  • Depending on the industry, you may need job specific knowledge. For example, home based travel agents need to be proficient in at least one Global Distribution System.
  • You'll need superior customer service skills and evidence to back it up.
  • You should have good IT skills and be able to use the company's call logging software. You should also have basic troubleshooting knowledge so that you can correct minor computer and internet problems.
  • You need to be self motivated and reliable. You should have excellent attendance records and be very punctual. Employers may follow this up with previous employers, so be honest if asked about numbers of sick days.
  • You should work well under pressure and be good at prioritising tasks in order to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • A background in sales is often highly desirable.
  • You should be target driven and feel comfortable working to meet a range of different targets, including call times, logging times and customer satisfaction levels.
