We look at what you can expect from hairdressing jobs in Nottingham

Despite the fact that very few people have got all that much disposable income to play with these days, one simple, undeniable fact remains regarding hairdressers - almost everyone needs one on a regular basis. This is great news for anyone with aspirations to work in the hairdressing industry, since it means that there will always be a need for their services, but many people remain confused as to the best way to get a foot in the door of their local hair salons.

In order to be taken seriously, we recommend that you look into earning yourself an NVQ or SVQ Hairdressing Level 2 qualification from your local college of further education or other registered training centre. While you don't technically need any formal qualifications in order to apply for hairdressing jobs in Nottingham, these particular ones will ensure that your potential employer realises that you have put in the time and effort to learn the basics of the trade and you should find that they are an awful lot more receptive to your advances for employment than they would be otherwise.

We must forewarn you however that the first year or so of your time as a hairdresser will not be pleasant. You'll be earning just £5.93 per hour and most of your time will be spent cleaning up, sweeping the floor and making tea for customers. Don't worry though, this is something that every hairdresser must go through as part of their training, and before you know it you'll be earning between £9,500 and £15,000 per year for cutting away to your heart's content.
