Getting your first job as an engineer can sometimes be a difficult task, especially in this economy. If you find yourself in this situation, you should considering an engineering internship. This is a good way to improve your skills and gain the necessary experience for a full-time job. An internship is also one of the best ways to build your CV. There are several places you can check out for finding available engineering internships. Here are some ideas that will get you started.

Inside Careers (insidecareers.co.uk) is a website that allows you to register in order to get emails regarding new internships and graduate jobs. There are several sections available in the engineering industry, including civil engineering, chemical engineering, electric and electronic engineering, structural engineering or mechanical engineering. If you are still an undergraduate, you can apply for a summer engineering internship program at RISE (Research Internships in Science and Engineering). This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in research, as it offers you the chance to work with doctoral students from a variety of universities and research institutions across Germany.

All work is conducted in English and all interns receive help for covering living expenses. The program has been running since 2005 and there are several hundreds places available for this program every year.
