Want to study for a diploma in social work?

If you're the type of person who just loves to help others, then a diploma in social work could be the thing you need in order to kick start the career of your dreams. It takes a special kind of person to work as a social worker, and those people need to be encouraged as much as possible, since the difference that they can make to lives, and society as a whole, can often be immeasurable.

As a social worker you'll be helping some of the most at risk and underprivileged sections of society. You'll often be working closely with abused children, alcoholics, drug addicts, people with physical and mental disabilities, the elderly, the terminally ill, young offenders and a wide range of other individuals.

While a diploma in social work is a good start, you won't be able to fully qualify as a social worker until you have completed a General Social Care Council approved degree. You can often take an undergraduate degree in social work or a subject like social sciences, social care or legal studies to supplement your diploma though.

Once your studies have been completed you can expect to start off earning around £22,000 per year, with the ability to increase that to as much as £30,000 per year before having the chance to enter a more senior managerial position. While many people don't like the hands off nature of these managerial roles, the money is greatly improved, with senior management figures able to make as much as £58,000 per year.
