First Aid courses in Dublin

First Aid can be an incredibly important skill to learn in modern society. Acquiring skills such as cardio pulmonary resuscitation and the ABC's of troubled breathing can actually save lives and help deal with people who are experiencing a medical crisis - but it is important to  be taught these skills in reputable classes.

So, where to learn these skills and just who teaches them is the key question. There are a number of not-for-profit groups who centre their existence around teaching these kinds of skills. Groups such as the Irish Red Cross, St. John's Ambulance and the Order of Malta offer a variety of courses catering for all levels of expertise and interest in the Dublin area.

With several internationally recognised centres of excellence, it is simply a matter of finding a course with a time and place that suits you.

The St. John's Ambulance runs a first aid course which costs €100. The training takes place in its Leeson Street centre and the course itself runs for 14 hours over seven weeks. The course is assessed using a practical examination and a written element. On successful completion, participants will gain a Brigade certificate in First Aid which is valid for two years. The next course will begin on the 29th of September 2011 and it is enrolling now.

The Irish Red Cross hold a variety of courses from basic first aid to CPR and defibrillator training. To avail of these courses you should contact the Irish Red Cross's Dublin office directly and enquire about times and locations as these can vary with interest. Their contact email address is DublinOffice@redcross.ie.

First Aid Courses in Dublin are also offered by the Order of Malta from their Dublin premises located in Ballsbridge. They offer a full range of first aid courses with options for beginners, advanced and something which we think is key, offering refresher courses to those looking to brush up their skills. Email firstaidtraining@orderofmalta.ie in order to get their full prospectus with the times of the courses offered.

Good luck and let's hope that you never have to use your newly acquired skills.
