  1. Organise, organise, organise! In order to plan your workload and meet deadlines, you'll need to carefully manage your working day. We recommend that you draw up a timetable and designate times for each task.
  2. Minimise distractions. Working from be home can be tough, especially when there are so many things vyng for your attention. Could you concentrate while the kids are being noisy, the dishes need washed, and your favourite TV show is just about to start? The best way to minimise distractions is to designate a specific area in your house as a home office, and make sure that everyone knows that you're not to be disturbed while you're there.
  3. Think professionally. Although many people are drawn to the idea of being able to work while lounging on the sofa with their laptop on their knees, we recommend that you prepare yourself for the working day as you would if you were going to an office job. Rise an hour before you're due to start, wash, dress, have your breakfast and then go to your working space.
  4. Allow for flexibility. Don't be too hard on yourself - one of the beauties of working from home is the flexibility. If you're finding it hard to concentrate, take a break.
  5. Maintain good communication with your manager and/or colleagues. Telecommuters can easily feel isolated, so make sure that you engage with the rest of your team on a regular basis.
